Our History

In 2007, after 5 years of housing homeless men and women in their Winston Salem home, Randy and Paula Borton bought a 100-year-old farmhouse on a 6-acre farm in Yadkin County. Soon after the purchase, the first Board of Directors was formed and the non-profit, Solus Christus, was incorporated in NC. Churches came alongside painting, mowing, and filling each room with everything needed to fully open Solus Christus, a christian safehouse for women in addiction. The mission was to lead women to Christ, therefore, finding new life away from drugs and alcohol. For the first 6 months, Mary and Alex Sharpe moved into the bedroom on the first floor becoming the first Director and maintenance/groundsman. The first resident arrived December 31, 2007 during an open house. In 2008, Randy and Paula moved to the farm to become the new director and resident groundsman. Over the next 15 years, Randy and Paula along with staff were given the opportunity and privilege to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to each woman that the Lord brought through the doors of Solus Christus. During this time, 5 acres were donated, an activity building, a mobile home and 2 other houses were added to the property. In 2022, Randy and Paula retired and the current Director, Andrea Allen, and her family moved to Solus Christus. The ministry now operates with multiple full time staff members who daily share the love of Christ and continue to live out the mission that started in 2007. In God’s kindness, we have the original 6 acres and farmhouse along with the activity building, and 2 additional houses for staff.
